Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-11-03

These terms apply when you share an app from quine by link. Making and playing apps on your own device needs no account and no agreement; opening an app someone shared with you needs neither. The terms are written to be plain, not exhaustive legalese.

Who runs quine

quine and its server at quine.felx.me are run by Felix Dietze, a private person in Germany. Contact: quine@felx.me.

Who may share

To share an app you need a quine account and must be at least 18 years old. You agree to these terms once, before your first share; quine asks again if they change.

What sharing means

Your app's license

You keep the rights you have in your app. By sharing a version, you license it to everyone under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0): anyone may play, copy, change and share it again, also outside quine, if they credit the app they built on and share their changes under the same license. quine credits for them: every app copied from another names the app it came from.

This license cannot be taken back for a version already shared. That is what lets others keep building on it.

Share only what you may license this way: what you made yourself, what the assistant made for you, or material whose license allows it (for example CC BY-SA or more permissive). Do not put other people's personal data into an app you share.

What you must not share

Do not share an app that:

Reporting an app

To report a shared app, use "Report" in quine, or write to quine@felx.me with its link and what is wrong with it. Reports of illegal content are reviewed promptly.

Removing apps and accounts

The developer may remove a shared app that breaks these terms or the law, and may suspend the account that shared it if it does so repeatedly. The person who shared a removed app sees the reason in quine. To dispute a removal, write to quine@felx.me.

You can withdraw your app at any time: its link then stops working and quine's server deletes its versions. Copies that people already took keep running on their devices, under the license above.

No guarantee

quine is free and provided as it is. It may change, have outages, or end; a shared link may stop working. Apps shared by others are theirs, not the developer's: open them at your own judgement. Because quine is free, the developer is liable only for intent and gross negligence, and without limit for injury to life, body or health, as German law provides.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. quine shows the new terms and asks you to agree before your next share; versions you already shared stay under the license they were shared with.

Law

German law applies. If you live in another country of the European Union, the consumer protection laws of your country still protect you.
